Garibaldi Landing Commemoration
August 2
A historic event honoring one of the most significant episodes of the Italian Risorgimento: the Trafila Garibaldina. On August 3rd, 1849, the Comacchio area played a crucial role in the escape of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who was being pursued by Austrian troops after being intercepted off the coast of Cesenatico.
Thanks to the help of his friend and patriot Nino Bonnet, Garibaldi managed to continue his journey to freedom, leaving an unforgettable mark on Italian history. This pivotal moment would later contribute to the foundation of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861.
