Sailing on the water
You can visit the city on the water by boat. Two, in fact, there are two starting points offered by the Voluntary Associations that play a free transport service on "batane": the Association "La Batana" carries out its activities near the old fish market. Hence a picturesque route goes through canals of the old town that reaches the district S.Pietro. From Via Cavour Canal next to the Clock Tower, the Association “La Comacina” lends service; with the path you can reach the Loggiato dei Cappuccini sailing along the canal Lombardo.
Walking on the bridges
If you park near Via Fattibello you can easily reach the monumental Trepponti Bridge. After a short distance you get to the Bridge “Ponte degli Sbirri” and along the canal in Via Agatopisto you arrive at San Pietro Bridge ; passing on the other side and crossing a small bridge in brick (turning immediately left) follow the canal in Via Buonafede arriving at the rear of the former San Camillo Hospital. Following the alley on the right you return on Via Agatopisto. Continue on Via Edgardo Fogli and following the water course passing by Via Cavour Bridge. After crossing a small bridge at the beginning of Via Carducci we reach the Carmine District and the bridge of the same name. Then along via Stigmata and via Muratori you return to the Trepponti Bridge.
The history and the churches
Parking in the areas next to Piazzale Dante Alighieri, go along Corso Mazzini and through the long Loggiato dei Cappuccini you get to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria in Aula Regia. Returning to the centre of the city, there is the Cathedral of San Cassiano and the imposing Bell Tower. Continuing towards Piazzetta Ugo Bassi and taking - on the left - Via Cavour, you enter the Sacrario dei Caduti (or Church of Sant’Antonio) along the canal and toward the Carmine District, you get to the beautiful church dedicated to the Madonna Del Carmine. After crossing the bridge and following the course of the canal, you come to the side of the Church of the Holy Rosary: cross Piazzetta Folegatti, turn left towards Via E. Fogli. Next to the former Hospital - the future Museum of the Delta - there is the small Church of the "Spetale".
