“Collezione Magnani: perfumes over time”
The sense of smell is the most spiritual of all the senses. It is precisely this spiritual characteristic that allows the fragrance to bear witness to empty spaces in an impression of presence. Furthermore, the use of perfumes sheds light on the more complex aspects of society, such as trade, scientific knowledge, ritual habits, luxury, interpersonal relationships and communication between people.
The hints offered by the path of essences created for the Museo Delta Antico, are an opportunity to speak, with another language, of history and the people lived in past centuries. The olfactory path of the Ancient Delta Museum is enriched today with two new fragrances that are added to the three already present in the museum, created for it purposely. The creator of the two new essences is Laura Bosetti Tonatto, an internationally renowned "nose".
In this perspective, the "diffused" section of the museum dedicated to perfumes also makes use of a precious temporary exhibition of perfume containers that are part of the wide collection of Monica Magnani. These are small luxury items surprising for their variety and artisan quality, produced over a period of time ranging from antiquity to the modern era. They open windows on symbologies, cultural references and personal care and are also a stimulus to find in the museum exhibition the precious balsamari that characterize the ancient and Roman era.
