fr My name is Carla Carli and I founded the Girogirotondo social cooperative in 1997. At that time we were a group of young mothers sensitive to the issues of childhood, the education and growth of boys and girls, the well-being of families and citizenship in general. We had so much energy and hope for the future of our sons and daughters. After a path of growth and training at the University of Bologna, which at that time wanted to invest in the birth and development of very early childhood educational services with Professor Franco Frabboni, my path in the world of social cooperation began. Girogirotondo was born thanks to the strong motivation and enthusiasm shared with other colleagues; it is still present in the territory of Comacchio, and also at the provincial level, with its impact.
Always and on a daily basis, in my family attention to the other is the air we breathe, and not only as a thought but really as a way of life: in being attentive to social, welcoming, solidarity, respect. The desire to try new experiences and take new paths has always characterized me. Conquests made together with other people with whom I shared and share ideal thoughts, cultures, passions, hopes of being able to bring change and positive growth. I feel very connected to my territory and my work has given me the opportunity to create synergies, important collaborations made of contamination, solidarity, networking and teamwork.
Certainly Girogirotondo has given a lot to the territory with personal services, for the community, for early childhood, adolescents, families and people in fragile situations, but it is reductive to compile a list of services because the cooperative's greatest achievement is that of having succeeded in entering the social fabric, creating positive and constructive synergies with Schools, Municipalities, Bodies, Voluntary Associations and among people in general. Every day I feel and perceive that my work choice, which travels parallel to my life choice, was the right one.
I feel satisfaction and joy in knowing that I have contributed, together with many other people, to sow a few small seeds, which fertilized and watered with care and love has sprouted and led to the birth of youth centers, nurserieschildhood centers, school integration services and for people with disabilities, projects and everything that revolves around the community universe; an educating community that moves with commitment, professionalism, competence, attention and even a bit of levity.
In this regard, Girogirotondo cooperative together with local associations has been realizing for 12 years now the famous and unique Carnival on Water, an event that offers tourists the opportunity to admire an original context, beyond the fascinating seascape and valley.
In 2024 it will be June 22, from 9 p.m., the big date with the night edition of the kermis. We will see the allegorical boats dressed for the evening, with sparkling and luminous outfits, in all their splendor, gliding along the canals of the historic center of our wonderful town, Comacchio.
The Carnival on 'Water has a strong bond with the territory because it highlights its peculiarities, enhancing its features and spreading them on a national scale; but what this event contributes most to is the reconstruction and nurturing of bonds among those who, in different manners, contribute to its realization. This nurtures the sense of community and its connection with the territory, which is formed not only by natural or architectural heritage, but also and above all by people and their stories. This is where our roots lie: we continue to keep them firm and strong with an eye toward the future, through the exchanges, collaborations, and connections that come from living one's territory actively, as protagonists.
In both the summer and winter editions, the carnival on the water is a fascinating experience between spectacle and fun, in search of beauty in a unique context, ready to be seen in a different light, both by its inhabitants and by those who have known us for a long time, and by those who will visit us for the first time.
