The Po Delta Park is one of Europe's most popular destinations forbirdwatchers. With over 60,000 hectares of protected natural areas, lagoons, valleys, centuries-old forests, pine forests, dunes and salt marshes, this extraordinary territory offers a mosaic of environments where biodiversity and harmony between man and nature reach exceptional levels.

More than 300 species of birds populate the Park: more than 150 nest permanently, more than 180 winter regularly, and many more are passing through during migration. Herons, ducks, coots, gulls and the characteristic pink flamingos find a protected and resourceful environment here, making the Delta one of Europe's birdwatching capitals. Among the most fascinating are the Lesser Tern, Ruppell's Tern, Spoonbills, Osprey, and the Pink Flamingos of the Valleys and the Comacchio Salt Marsh, now the international "star" of birdwatching.

The best time to engage in bird watching coincides with the spring and fall migrations, from late February to mid-April and from mid-July to mid-October. Early morning hours anddusk are the ideal times, when wildlife is most active. Equipped trails, observation turrets and camouflaged huts make it possible to admire the animals without disturbing them, ensuring an authentic and environmentally friendly experience.

In addition to birds, the Po Delta is also home to mammals, amphibians, reptiles and a wide variety of fish, including theeel, a cultural symbol of Comacchio. Visiting the park means entering a living ecosystem, where every element, from water to forests, is part of a complex and fascinating balance.

For those who want to combine birdwatching and nature photography, the Delta offers unique views, from pink flamingos in flight to the tranquil waters of the valleys.
