From the Sea to the Lagoons

The itinerary begins at Lido degli Estensi, near the ferry from Porto Garibaldi (which allows bikes on board). Leaving the Lido and going inland, you will come to Via Cagliari; go right along this road until you cross under the Strada Statale 309 Romea highway at the bridge over the canal port. After a few minutes, you will reach the wide-open, peaceful spaces of the Comacchio Lagoons. Going along the Logonovo canal, where traditional  fishing huts still use suspended nets, you will reach the Comacchio salt  ats, the refuge of lively colonies of waterbirds, including the beautiful pink  flamingos: this is a protected area and all our excursions are carried out by expert guides. Along the path towards the Casone Foce, the Torre Rossa, an ancient defensive structure, is to be admired. Walking tours or boat tours around the lagoons and salt  ats leave from Stazione Foce. To the right, following the bank of the Fattibello Lagoon, you will  and the historical centre of Comacchio: bridges, canals, museums, churches, porticoes and the smell of freshly-caught  fish are the features of this picturesque town. Don’t miss your chance to visit the Delta Antico Museum and the Manifattura dei Marinati, the historical eel-canning factory and museum is a must if you want to learn more about this traditional process. Leaving Comacchio, you can follow the cycle path back to Porto Garibaldi.
