With the cessation of salt extraction in 1984, human activity has been absent from the salt pan, allowing it to transform into a thriving natural sanctuary. This peaceful refuge now hosts numerous species of waterfowl, including the graceful pink flamingo, which finds the ideal conditions here for nesting.
