Schola Gregoriana “Ecce” – Vocal group “Teleion” and Frescobaldi Jazz Ensemble

Sunday 13 December 2026, 4:30 pm
Basilica Concattedrale San Cassiano, Sagrato San Paolo Giovanni II, Comacchio (FE)

Gregorian chant and jazz: two musical worlds that at first glance seem destined to remain parallel. The first flourished in the early Middle Ages and became the universal song of the Catholic Church; the second was born in the early twentieth century, spreading first through clubs and gathering places, and went on to become one of the highest musical expressions of African American culture.

Yet this concert sets out to show that the two languages can not only meet, but merge into a single, seamless composition that does justice to the distinct character of each.

The thread running through the evening will be Christmas, together with the memory of the towering figure of Saint Francis, whose eight-hundredth death anniversary falls this year.

Event organised in collaboration with the “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory of Music in Ferrara and AERCO (Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori, the Emilia-Romagna choirs association).
