Comacchio is discovered step by step, following the slow rhythm of the water and being guided by its monuments. The historic center preserves a unique urban layout, born on thirteen small islands and shaped over the centuries by the constant relationship with the lagoon.
The undisputed symbol of the town is the Trepponti, the scenic point and beating heart of Comacchio: from here the network of canals branches off and crosses the center, providing evocative views and ever-changing perspectives. Not far away are theAntica Pescheria and the Ponte degli Sbirri, places that tell of the daily life and commercial past of the town.
Continuing along the canals and streets of the center, one discovers Palazzo Bellini, an elegant 19th-century building, the Clock Tower and the Loggia dei Mercanti, evidence of Comacchio's civil and social history.
The route then leads to the Cathedral of San Cassiano, dedicated to the city's patron saint, and along Via Mazzini to the extraordinary Loggiato dei Cappuccini, with its 142 arches that accompany the eye to the thousand-year-old Sanctuary of Santa Maria in Aula Regia.
Comacchio's monuments are not just places to visit, but spaces to experience: walks, guided itineraries and stories allow you to capture the essence of a city that slowly reveals itself, among water, architecture and memory.
